Structural drying and dehumidification is the process of removing moisture from the building itself – framing, subfloor, drywall, insulation – not just the visible water on the surface. This step is what actually prevents mold and long-term structural damage, and it's easy to underestimate how long it takes to do properly.
We handle this for Shishmaref, AK properties after any significant water event, once initial extraction is done and it's time to dry out what's left. This is usually a multi-day process, and rushing it is one of the biggest mistakes in water damage recovery – material that looks dry on the surface can still be holding moisture deep inside.
We place commercial-grade air movers to create airflow across wet surfaces and industrial dehumidifiers – typically LGR (low grain refrigerant) units for the most effective moisture removal – sized to the square footage and severity of the water intrusion. We monitor progress daily with moisture meters, adjusting equipment placement as areas dry, and we don't call a job finished until readings confirm the material has returned to a normal moisture level, not just until it looks or feels dry.
Cost depends on the size of the area being dried, the severity of saturation, and how many days of equipment run-time are needed to reach dry standard.
